About Merge & Split

Merge combines separate PDF files into one document — scanned pages, application documents, receipts, or chapters — preserving every page exactly as it was, with no re-encoding or quality loss. Drag files into the right order before combining; pages appear in the output file by file.

Split goes the other way: extract specific page ranges, or divide a document every N pages for batch jobs. Splitting up to 3 output files and merging up to 3 PDFs are free; Pro removes both limits. Both run entirely in your browser.

  • Rename files with a numeric prefix (01-, 02-) so the merge order is obvious.
  • Page numbers count from 1 at the cover, including unnumbered front matter.
  • Too large after merging? Compress the result or split it into logical parts.

Merge & Splitfrequently asked questions

How many PDFs can I merge for free?
Up to 3 files per merge are free. Pro removes the limit for $0.99 a month or $9.99 a year.
Does merging reduce quality?
No. Pages are copied into the new document exactly as they are, without recompressing text or images.
Can I choose the page order?
Yes. Files merge in the order you arrange them, and each file's pages stay in their original sequence.
How do I split a PDF into separate pages?
Switch to Split, enter the page ranges you want, and each range becomes its own downloadable PDF. Up to 3 output files are free.
Are merged files uploaded anywhere?
No. Merging and splitting run in your browser, so the documents stay on your device.
The merged file is too big to email. What now?
Run the result through the Compress tool, or split the document into logical parts and send them separately.
